24 - Day 305

Excuse the mud!  Annie had rolled before I brought her in and while I tried to clean her up for pictures, she just wanted to eat!

24 - Day 306

Mud again!

26 - Day 307

27 - Day 308

Annie has started developing a bag.  She did likewise early last year.

28 - Day 309

Annie has quite a bit of udder development for this point in the pregnancy.

March
Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday

1 - Day 310

Foal has been very active today and has shifted position several times.  This seems to irritate Annie....

2 - Day 311

Annie moved to her foaling stall today.  She didn't seem to mind the change.

3 - Day 312

Annie is focused on eating, growing and sleeping.  She's not moving very much or fast these days....

4 - Day 313

Annie...muddy again...

.

5 - Day 314

Annie's teats have filled today.

.

6 - Day 315

Annie's milk is now cloudy and slightly sticky.

.

7 - Day 316

Annie's milk is stickier and thicker tonight. She's sagging under the tail and has been off her feed.  Her mood isn't good...been restless and irritable tonight.  Her milk doesn't look like she's ready, but she's getting closer.

8 - Day 317

Tested Annie's milk for Calcium tonight.  She's under 50 PPM, so she has a ways to go.  Teats still full.  Milk is cloudy, slightly tacky, but can still see through.  Annie is still irritable and bickering with all the other horses.

9 - Day 318

Annie had a heavy mucus discharge last evening, continues some today.  Calcium is till under 50 PPM.  Not much udder change, milk still looks the same.  Annie is still somewhat off her feed and uncomfortable..

10 - Day 319

Annie is off her feed.  Calcium is till under 50 PPM but milk is changing color & consistency.  Udder has increased in size, more slackening under the tail.  Annie is starting to show signs of increasing pressue - tail held sideways.

11 - Day 320

This photo shows the slackening of the vulva.  This is a notable change in the last 24 hours.  She isn't sealing tight anymore and continues to show signs of increasing pressure.  Milk still under 50 PPM Calcium, but is whiter and more plentiful.

12 - Day 321

Udder is very full, teats look like they're going to pop!  She's very saggy.  Behavior is off and she's started butt pushing and frequent urination.  Milk is white but still tests under 50 PPM.  She looks and acts very much like a ready mare.

13 - Day 322

Milk is white, thickening but still tests under 50 PPM.  Annie is not eating her grain, is irritable and clearly feeling pressure.  The foal has moved around and the hind feet can be seen on Annie's belly toward the udder.

14 - Day 323

Milk is a bit whiter, thickening but still tests under 50 PPM.  Still not eating her grain.  Teats are even fuller than they have been, but she's surprisingly more difficult to milk.  She looks ready to go...whenever she thinks it's time!

15 - Day 324

Milk looks ready but still tests under 50 PPM.  Still not eating her grain.  Annie's sagged, has plenty of udder development, is softened around the tailhead so we're up to waiting until ... Jupiter aligns with Mars...???

16 - Day 325

Still not eating her grain.  No real change...teats still full, udder is full (fuller than at foaling last year), hindquarters are soft and relazed.  However, she's not showing the "I'm the last few days" restlessness that we usually see.

17 - Day 326

No real change today.  Her udder is very full and hard.  She's been rolling some  and showing signs of being more uncomfortable.  She's irritable.

18 - Day 327

Udder is very full, hard and warm today.  Annie has more milk in her teats and it's easier to milk.  There has been no change to the way the milk looks or tests.  Very soft & saggy.

19 - Day 328

No change.....

20 - Day 329

No change.....

21 - Day 330

No change.  This photo does show the hollows next to her tail head.  Annie actually has depressions from the softening of the hindquarters.  Behavior is same.

22 - Day 331

The foal has changed position today.  The photograph shows the difference in Annie's belly from the last several days.  This change is seen in the last week (or so) of pregnancy. She's very sunken by her tailhead.

23 - Day 332

This photo compares to those earlier this week and shows changes in belly shape.  Annie waxed a bit today, although her milk tests under 50 PPM.  She's showing "pre-labor" signs and is clearly coming down the home stretch now.

24 - Day 333

Small amounts of wax off/on all day.  Milk is at 55 ppm Calcium.  Annie is acting very much like she's close.  She's clearly uncomfortable, didn't want to leave her stall today and is still off her feed.  Milks easily and is very sticky.

25 - Day 334

PM Update:  Calcium at 500 PPM, we except a foal tonight.  Milk is very plentiful, white, thick and sticky.  Annie has been restless most of the day...but decided to eat tonight!  She's been off her feed a long time, but ate normal tonight!.
